2017 MXGP of Pays de Montbéliard – Villars sous Ecot: l’ultimo GP della stagione MX2 va a Covington. Lawrence e Beaton completano il podio

Il sole ritorna a farsi vedere sul circuito francese di Villars sous Ecot quando i piloti della classe MX2 cominciano a scaldare i loro motori in vista dell’imminente partenza di gara 2.

All’abbassarsi del cancelletto, il più reattivo in uscita è nuovamente l’americano della Husqvarna Thomas Covington (Husqvarna). Hunter Lawrence (Suzuki) si accoda subito all’americano, seguito da Brian Bogers (KTM), Jorge Prado Garcia (KTM) ed Henry Jacobi (Husqvarna). Jeremy Seeewer (Suzuki) è sesto mentre Pauls Jonass (KTM) è decimo.

Brian Bogers è determinato a chiudere bene quest’ultima gara del campionato 2017 e nel giro di poche curve prima sorpassa Hunter Lawrence e poi Thomas Covington, portandosi al comando. L’americano però non ci sta e dopo poche curve, si riappropria della prima posizione.

Il tracciato notevolmente migliorato rispetto alla prima manche e lavorato in alcuni punti, permette ai piloti di aumentare notevolmente l’andatura e la gara diventa molto più piacevole da guardare.

Poco dopo la conclusione del primo giro, Brian Bogers comette un errore e lascia strada libera ad Hunter Lawrence il quale in poco tempo si porta nella scia dell’americano al comando per poi sorpassarlo.

Intanto da dietro risale lo svizzero Jeremy Seewer che comincia a pressare Brian Bogers tanto che l’olandese raggiunge e sorpassa Thomas Covington prendendosi la seconda posizione; poi è la volta anche dello svizzero che ha la meglio sull’americano e si appropria della terza posizione mentre il compagno di team Hunter Lawrence guida ancora la corsa.

Trascorsi quattro giri, l’australiano Jed Beaton (Honda) conserva ancora il quinto posto; Davi Pootjes (KTM) è sesto ma alle sue spalle comincia a farsi vedere il neo Campione del Mondo MX2 Pauls Jonass. Appena un giro e il lettone ha la meglio sull’olandese così come Jeremy Seewer sorpassa Brian Bogers e si porta in seconda posizione. Dopo Seewer, il pilota KTM del Team HSF Logistic Motorsports vede anche sfilarsi da Thomas Covington e da Jed Beaton ed in poche curve si ritrova quinto.

All’ottavo giro, Thomas Covington riguadagna la seconda posizione ai danni di Jeremy Seewer, con un bel sorpasso all’interno, nella curva in fondo alla discesa.

Quando la gara si avvia verso le battute finali, Jeremy Seewer sembra poter riagganciare Thomas Covington ma una serie di piccoli errori non gli permettono la riuscita dell’impresa è l’americano si invola verso il secondo posto finale che gli consegna la vittoria del GP.

A due giri dal termine, Pauls Jonass raggiunge Jed Beaton e sorpassandolo si appropria della quarta posizione ma quando le posizioni sembrano oramai consolidate Jeremy Seewer cade e subisce il sorpasso di Pauls Jonas e Jed Beaton.

Gara 2 della classe MX2 termina così con la vittoria di Hunter Lawerence, davanti a Thomas Covington e Pauls Jonass.

Dalla sommatoria dei risultati delle due manche, il GP va all’americano Thomas Covington; sul secondo gradino del podio sale Hunter Lawrence mentre sul terzo Jed Beaton.

Il campionato 2017 termina così con la vittoria di Pauls Jonass; a Jeremy Seewer spetta la medaglia d’argento mentre a Thomas Kier Olsen quella di bronzo.
