Tim Gajser ha ottenuto il secondo posto nel primo GP della stagione sulla sua CRF450RW #243 nella classe MXGP più competitiva degli ultimi anni.
Sia Gajser che Bobryshev hanno avuto una solida prima gara della stagione conquistando il secondo e il settimo posto nella classifica del campionato del mondo per mantenere il 100 per cento di record di podi del team HRC presso la sede del Qatar dal 2014.
Gajser, che si è battuto con una malattia per tutto il weekend, è stato in battaglia nella prima gara lottando per il podio con il compagno di squadra Evgeny Bobryshev e Clement Desalle. Nella seconda gara sembrava più a suo agio ed è stato in grado di prendere la testa dopo le prime curve, mettendo un divario tra sé e Cairoli. Nell’ultimo giro della gara l’energia di Gajser svaniva ed egli sensibilmente cedeva il primo posto finale a Cairoli. Con una stagione completa avanti, questo è un inizio positivo per il campione in carica in questa stagione del campionato del mondo, nonostante le sfide che ha affrontato.
Bobryshev ha iniziato bene nella prima gara e subito si è messo al secondo posto e stava correndo con forza, a suo agio nel gruppo di testa. Un paio di errori negli ultimi giri di gara costano al russo un posto sul podio, ottenendo un quarto posto. Nella seconda gara Bobryshev non ha avuto lo stesso scatto in partenza nel senso che aveva il suo bel da fare per risalire attraverso il gruppo da undicesimo. Con la pista diventata più difficile da guidare e le linee limitate, Bobreyshev ha dovuto accontentarsi di un settimo posto, ma ha preso il quarto posto assoluto nel GP, ottenendo un quarto posto in classifica nel Campionato del Mondo.
Tim Gajser: Sì, Sono davvero molto felice nel complesso con il fine settimana. Non non è cominciato al meglio perchè sono stato davvero male per tutto il weekend, ma sono stato in grado di ottenere due buone gare, nonostante questo. La prima gara non ho avuto il miglior inizio e ho dovuto combattere con Bobryshev e Desalle per tutta la gara. E ‘stata dura passare perché c’era in realtà solo una linea veloce e le altre linee non avevano la stessa velocità. Nella seconda gara, ho avuto un inizio migliore, ero in testa e ho tirato mettendo del distacco tra me e Cairoli. Poi, negli ultimi due giri ero distrutto e non ho potuto dare di più ma sono felice di iniziare la stagione con il secondo posto assoluto in questo fine settimana.
Evgeny Bobryshev: Oggi è stata positiva per il mio risultato complessivo in campionato, ma guardando le gare non ho fatto come avrei potuto. Nella prima gara, ho fatto un errore e lasciato cadere la moto in una curva prima della partenza, perchè non mi sentivo a mio agio con la mia guida. Nella seconda gara, ho avuto una brutta partenza e ho lottato con la pista, ma so che ho avuto una buona velocità, perchè abbiamo cambiato un po’ di cose sulla moto per la seconda gara. I cambiamenti erano molto meglio per il mio stile di guida in queste condizioni e ho capito che ero più veloce nella seconda sezione della pista. In pista era davvero difficile superare; l’anno scorso era molto meglio preparata. Cercavo di cambiare la mia linea ma non riuscivo a ottenere niente in questo modo.
Roger Harvey: Questo è un solido inizio di stagione per entrambi i piloti che hanno avuto una buona gironata in considerazione di alcune circostanze. Bobryshev ha avuto soprattutto una buona prima gara. Tim è stato poco bene questa settimana e onestamente abbiamo messo in dubbio che avrebbe fatto anche la gara, ma l’ha fatta e venirne via con questa posizione è un bel vantaggio per noi. Ora non ci resta che costruire su questo in Indonesia la settimana prossima, un tracciato nuovo per tutti noi.
Gajser starts 2017 season on the podium in Qatar
Tim Gajser took second place in the first GP of the season on his #243 CRF450RW in the most competitive MXGP class for the last few years.
Both Gajser and Bobryshev had a solid first race of the season taking second and seventh in the world championship standings to maintain Team HRC’s 100 per cent podium record at the Qatari venue since 2014.
Gajser, who has been fighting off an illness all weekend, found he had a battle on his hands in the first race as he fought for the podium between teammate Evgeny Bobryshev and Clement Desalle. It was the second race where he looked more comfortable and was able to take an early lead within the first few corners, pulling a gap between himself and Cairoli. In the last lap of the race Gajser’s energy waned and he sensibly surrendered his first-place finish to Cairoli. With a full season ahead, this is a positive start to the reigning world champions season despite the challenges he faced.
Bobryshev started well in the first race and quickly got himself into second place and was running strongly, looking comfortable in the lead group. A couple of mistakes in the last few laps of the race cost the Russian a podium finish as he settled into fourth place. In the second race Bobryshev didn’t have the same jump out of the start meaning he had his work cut out to get back through the pack from eleventh. With the track becoming harder to ride and the lines limited, Bobreyshev had to settle for a seventh-place finish but took fourth overall in the GP, to lie fourth in the World Championship standings.
Tim Gajser: Yeah I am actually really happy overall with the weekend. It didn’t start the best as I have been really sick all weekend but I was able to achieve two good races despite this. The first race I didn’t have the best start and I had to battle with Bobryshev and Desalle all race. It was tough to pass because there was only actually one fast line and the other lines were not the same speed. In the second race, I had a better start, I was leading and I pulled a gap between myself and Cairoli. Then, in the last two laps I was destroyed and I couldn’t give anymore but I am happy to start the season with second overall this weekend.
Evgeny Bobryshev: Today was positive for my overall result in the championship but looking at the races I didn’t feel I did as well as I could have. In the first race, I made a mistake and dropped the bike in the corner before the start as I didn’t feel comfortable with my riding. In the second race, I had a really bad start and I struggled with the track but I know I had good speed as we changed a little bit on the bike for the second race. The changes were much better for my riding style in these conditions and I knew I was faster in the second section of the track. The track was really tough to pass; I feel that last year it was much better prepared. I was trying to change my line and I just couldn’t gain anything by doing this.
Roger Harvey: This is a solid start to the season with both riders having a pretty strong day considering some of the circumstances. Bobryshev especially had a good race in the first one. Tim has been suffering this week with feeling under the weather and quite honestly we questioned whether he would even race but he did and coming away with this race with this position is quite a bonus for us. Now we just have to build on this in Indonesia next week which is new for all of us.
