Mondiale MX2 agrodolce per Michele Cervellin e Maxime Renaux.

Con il GP di Argentina, il Team SM Action Yamaha inizia “ufficialmente” il Mondiale 2019. Dopo l’ottimo settimo posto finale nella passata stagione, per Michele Cervellin sarà una annata dove ha l’obbligo di confermarsi nei primi cinque dell’assoluta, mentre per Maxime Renaux l’obiettivo è quello di fare tanta esperienza e centrare la TOP TEN.

I due turni delle prove libere e di quelle cronometrate hanno confermato la buona velocità di Cervellin e Renaux. Settimo crono ufficiale per Michele a poco più di un secondo dalla Pole Position, dodicesimo quello di Maxime a due decimi dalla Top Ten.

La manche di qualifica però non è iniziata bene. Entrambi i piloti sono scattati indietro e su un tracciato dove passare è difficile, hanno faticato a rimontare. Al termine Cervellin è 15° mentre Renaux chiude 17°.

Al via di gara uno Cervellin e Renaux sono subito a ridosso dei primi dieci ma dopo nemmeno metà giro, a Maxime si rompe la sospensione posteriore costringendolo al ritiro. Michele invece scivola un paio di volte, scende in 25a posizione e chiude 18°.

Partenza migliore quella di gara due. Cervellin e Renaux scattano a centro gruppo ed al primo passaggio sono rispettivamente 12° e 15°. Regolare la manche di Michele che termina 11°, meno quella di Maxime che taglia il traguardo 20° condizionato però dalla cruenta caduta della prima manche.

MICHELE CERVELLIN #747:“Non è stata una gara come mi ero immaginato e come avrei voluto. Subito due scivolate all’inizio di gara uno su una pista dove è difficile rimontare, mi hanno subito compromesso un risultato buono. Gara due sono andato meglio del 18° posto della prima manche, ma non posso certo entusiasmarmi per una 11a piazza. Prima del prossimo GP abbiamo tempo e lavorerò sulle partenze ed anche a piccoli dettagli sulla moto”.

MX2 World Championship bitter sweet for Michele Cervellin and Maxime Renaux.

Team SM Action Yamaha started officially its 2019 World Championship in Argentina. After his 7^th final place of last season, Michele Cervellin will have the target to at least confirm himself in the Top Five, while Maxime Renaux will try to make as much experience as possible and enter in the TOP TEN.

Both Free Practice and Timed Practice confirmed both Cervellin and Renaux’s speed. Michele made the 7^th fastest lap time, with a little bit more than one second of gap from the Pole Position, while Maxime was 12^th but he had only two tenth of a second of gap from the Top Ten.

Qualifying Race did not start well, though. Both riders begun the race in the back of the group, and considering that this is a circuit where the overtakes are really hard to be made, they struggled to move up. At the end, Cervellin was 15^th and Renaux 17^th.

At the start of Race 1 Cervellin and Renaux were straight away very close to the Top Ten, but after less than a lap, Maxime’s bike broke the rear suspension, so he was forced to retire. Michele slipped a couple of times, moved back to the 25^th place and then recovered until he was 18^th at the checkered flag.

Race 2’s start went better. Cervellin and Renaux were in the middle of the group, as at the end of lap 1 they were respectively 12^th and 15^th. Michele kept a good pace and finished 11^th, while Maxime finished 20^th, even though we have to say that he was conditioned by Race 1’s bad crash.

MICHELE CERVELLIN #747:“The weekend didn’t go as I expected. I slipped two times at the beginning of Race 1 and I knew that I would struggle to move up, so I compromised a good result straight away. In Race 2 I did better than the 18^th place of Race 1, but I can’t be happy with the 11^th place. We have some time before the next round, so I will work on the starts and on some little details with of my bike”.
