Nel GP d’Olanda, settimo posto finale per Michele Cervellin. Bene Alvin Ostlund al rientro alle gare mentre Simone Furlotti soffre la sabbia olandese.

Sono quattro anni che si viene a correre sul TT Circuit di Assen e per ben tre volte è sempre stato il penultimo appuntamento del Mondiale. Il tracciato viene creato nell’area tra la “chicane” ed il rettilineo finale ed il fondo, ovviamente, è tutto di sabbia. A questo appuntamento nessun pilota del Team SM Action Yamaha è presente nella prova dell’Europeo EMX250, ma ce ne sono ben tre nel Mondiale MX2: Michele Cervellin, Simone Furlotti e Alvin Ostlund, al rientra nelle gare iridate dopo il lungo stop per l’infortunio alla caviglia sinistra al GP di Lettonia.

Nelle prove cronometrate il migliore dei tre è stato Cervellin con il 12° tempo mentre Ostlund strappa il 17° crono e Furlotti il 23°. Al via della gara di qualifica non parte bene Cervellin ma è subito in recupero e riesce a terminare 11°. Furlotti invece parte bene, tiene il passo dei primi dieci ma poi cala fisicamente e chiude 19°. Molto bene Ostlund che si assesta intorno alla sesta piazza terminando alla fine settimo.

Al via di gara uno Michele Cervellin è comodamente nei primi dieci. Ottavo per la precisione. Davanti a sé ha i migliori della classifica e pure Jacobi, suo diretto avversario nella generale gli è davanti. Michele tiene il passo, approfitta della caduta del tedesco e si prende il settimo posto. Non male nemmeno la partenza di Simone Furlotti. E’undicesimo al primo la giro ma poi cala fisicamente e chiude 21°. Alvin Ostlund invece resta invischiato in una caduta al via e riparte fra gli ultimi (31°) ma al termine della manche è 18°.

Per Michele Cervellin va bene anche gara due. Scatta sesto e ci resta per un paio di giri prima di venire scavalcato da Watson e da Jonass. Ripete lo stesso piazzamento della prima frazione e fa settimo anche nella Overall di giornata, a pari punti con Jonass che fa sesto. Nella classifica generale consolida l’ottavo posto e si porta ad un solo punto da Jago Geerts che lo precede.

Alvin Ostlund rispetto a gara uno migliora la sua prestazione. Lo svedese parte bene e per tutta la manche resta a contatto con i primi dieci dimostrando che con una condizione fisica migliore è in grado di lottare stabilmente per la TOP TEN.

Anche Simone Furlotti riesce a conquistare punti nella seconda manche. Non parte con i primi ma riesce ad avere un passo costante e viene premiato con il 18° posto ed i relativi tre punti.

Da qui, il TT Circuit di Assen, tempio della velocità olandese, il Mondiale si trasferisce a Imola, altro tempio sacro del motorismo mondiale e sede dell’ultimo GP della stagione.

2018 MXGP of the Netherlands: Michele Cervellin finisched 7th in the MX2 overall. Good comeback to the race for Alvin Ostlund while Simone Furlotti suffered the dutch sand.

Since four years the Circus goes to the Dutch TT of Assen, and this was the third time that this appointment was the second to last race of the World Championship. The circuit is created in the area between the “chicane” and the main straight and the surface, obviously, is made by sand. Nobody of EMX250 European Championship was present for Team SM Action Yamaha but there were three riders for the MX2 World Championship: Michele Cervellin, Simone Furlotti and Alvin Ostlund, who made his comeback to the race after a long stop due to his left ankle’s injury that he suffered at the Latvia GP.

In Timed Practice the best of the threes was Cervellin, who was 12^th, while Ostlund was 17^th and Furlotti 23^rd. At the start of Qualifying Race Cervellin did not begin well but he managed to recover straight away and he finished 11^th. Furlotti, instead, started well, kept the pace of the Top Ten riders but then he had a physical down and he finished 19^th. Very good Ostlund that settles around the sixth position, finishing 7th.

At the start of Race 1 Michele Cervellin was comfortably in the Top Ten. He was 8^th, precisely. In front of him there were all the best riders of the Championship, including Jacobi, who is his main competitor in the General Classification. Michele kept the pace and took advantage of the German rider’s crash, finishing 7^th. Not bad the start of Simone Furlotti too. He was 11^th after the first lap but then he had a physical down and he finished 21^st. Alvin Ostlund, instead, was involved in a crash at the start and he restarted in the back of the group. He was 31^st but he managed to finish the race in 18^th place.

Michele Cervellin did well in Race 2 too. At the start he was 6^th and he kept that position for a couple of laps, before being overtaken by Watson and Jonass. He repeated the placement of Race 1 and he finished 7^th in the Overall too, with the same amount of points of Jonass, who finished 6^th. In the General Classification he consolidated the 8^th position and he moved up to only one point of gap from Jago Geerts, who is in front of him. Alvin Ostlund improved his performance in Race 2. The Swedish started well and he stayed in contact with the TOP TEN riders for the whole race, showing that he could fight with them if he had the right physical condition. Simone Furlotti gained points too in Race 2. He didn’t start in the front of the group but he was able to have a constant pace, getting awarded with the 18^th place and 3 points.

From the DUTCH TT of Assen, the temple of the speed in Holland, the World Championship will now move to Imola, which is another sacred temple of the worldwide motorsport, where the last GP of the season will take place.
