Il pilota australiano Todd Waters passerà dal Team HRC al Team Honda Redmoto Assomotor per gli ultimi due round del campionato del mondo MXGP 2018.

Dopo aver fatto da sostituto per l’infortunato Brian Bogers prima del GP di Lettonia a maggio, Waters concluderà la stagione sotto la tenda Assomotor cercando di finere la sua stagione con dei buoni risultati.

Con Bogers di ritorno dal suo infortunio a lungo termine in occasione del suo GP di casa ad Assen, la famiglia Honda ha voluto trovare una casa al numero 42 sulla un CRF450R, che il team Assomotor ha fornito felicemente. Dopo un campionato che ha visto Waters sfidarsi per le prime 10 posizioni numerose volte, il passaggio ora gli dara ancora due round per raggiungere quell’obiettivo, qualcosa che accontenterebbe tutti quelli che sono collegati con Honda.

Waters ha un weekend libero prima che la serie riprenda sulla pista di sabbia costruita sul circuito di Assen TT il 15/16 settembre, con l’ultimo round che si terrà a Imola due settimane più tardi.

Todd Waters: “Mentre il mio tempo nel Team HRC sta arrivando alla fine, sono estremamente entusiasta di finire questi ultimi due MXGP del 2018 sotto la tenda da sole Team Honda Redmoto Assomotor. Con Brian Bogers reduce dall’infortunio, sarebbe stato un vero peccato non aver completare correttamente la stagione, ma grazie alla grande famiglia qui in Honda, hanno trovato un posto per me e non vedo l’ora di correre ad Assen e Imola su questa nuova ma familiare moto.

È stata una grande opportunità per me venire a guidare per il Team HRC qui negli MXGP. Ho ricevuto la chiamata mentre mi stavo preparando a correre come privato in America e sono così grato per tutto ciò che hanno fatto per farmi sentire benvenuto e per aiutarmi a fare il meglio che potevo. Purtroppo gli infortuni hanno chiesto il loro pedaggio e non mi sento come se avessi mostrato il mio meglio, ma sono comunque orgoglioso di quello che ho raggiunto e posso guardare indietro con affetto per il mio tempo in sella alla Honda CRF450RW. Grazie a entrambe le squadre e a tutti i miei fan e sostenitori che mi hanno sostenuto in questo giro sulle montagne russe.”

Todd Waters joins Team Honda Redmoto Assomotor

Australian rider Todd Waters has made the switch from Team HRC to Team Honda Redmoto Assomotor for the final two rounds of the 2018 MXGP world championship. After stepping in for the injured Brian Bogers before the Latvian GP in May, Waters now will round off the season under the Assomotor awning as he looks to end his campaign on a high note.

With Bogers returning from his long-term foot injury for his home GP in Assen, the Honda family wanted to find a home for the number 42 on a CRF450R, which team Assomotor happily provided. After a championship which has seen Waters challenge for the top 10 positions numerous times, the switch now gives him two more rounds to achieve that goal, something that would please everyone connected with Honda.

Waters has one weekend off before the series resumes at the sand-track built at the Assen TT road-racing circuit on September 15/16, with the last round taking place at Imola 2 weeks later.

Todd Waters: While my time at Team HRC is coming to end, I am extremely excited to finish off these last two MXGPs of 2018 under the Team Honda Redmoto Assomotor awning. With Brian Bogers coming back from injury, it would have been a real shame not to have rounded out the season properly but thanks to the great family here at Honda, they found a spot for me and I’m looking forward to racing at Assen and Imola on this new, but familiar machinery.

It was a massive opportunity for me to come and ride for Team HRC here in the MXGPs. I got the call whilst I was preparing to race as a privateer in America and I’m so grateful for everything that they have done to make me feel welcome and to help me perform as best I could. Unfortunately injuries have taken their toll and I don’t feel like I’ve shown my best but I am still proud of what I have achieved and can look back fondly on my time riding the Honda CRF450RW. Thank you to both teams and to all my fans and supporters who have backed me on this rollercoaster ride.
