A Malpensa Simone Furlotti vince la MX2, Michael Mantovani fa terzo. Bene anche tutti gli altri.

Dire che la penultima prova dell’Italiano Prestige MX2 è andata bene è poco, molto poco. La gara è andata benissimo per tutti i ragazzi del Team SM Action Yamaha che, a turno, si sono messi in evidenza. Le sorprese della giornata sono senza dubbio Michael Mantovani e Alessandro Manucci.

I motivi? Il primo ha comandato gara uno per ben 12 giri prima di soccombere a Samuele Bernardini, ha poi tagliato il traguardo sesto in gara due ed ha conquistato poi il terzo gradino del podio della MX2. Il secondo, al rientro alle gare dopo quasi cinque mesi per l’infortunio alla spalla subito nella gara di Ponte a Egola, è stato sempre nei primi dieci della prima frazione mentre nella seconda da 30° ha chiuso 15°.

Non è certamente una sorpresa la prestazione di Simone Furlotti, aggressivo come non lo è mai stato. Già nelle prove cronometrate si è capito che Simone era a suo agio su questo tracciato. Suo infatti il miglior crono che gli ha permesso di andare al cancello di partenza per primo. In gara uno fa terzo dopo una rimonta dall’undicesimo posto, nella seconda è quarto al primo passaggio, ma poi rimonta e supera Michele Cervellin a due giri dalla fine della manche andando meritatamente a vincere gara due.

Molto bene anche la sua prestazione nella Supercampione, chiusa al secondo posto alle spalle di Lupino e primo MX2 al traguardo. E’ stato bello vedere un Simone così combattivo. Un Simone così grintoso non lo abbiamo mai visto quest’anno e…. ci è piaciuto molto.

Michele Cervellin CI Prestige MX1-MX2 Malpensa

Michele Cervellin, come spesso gli capita, stava monopolizzando le gare ma ha fatto alcuni errori ed al termine della giornata, ha raccolto meno rispetto al sua potenziale. In gara uno, per un errore di valutazione su un salto, ha “steso” un paio di cartelli pubblicitari ed ha perso il comando della gara preso però dal suo compagno di squadra Mantovani.

Gara due l’ha comandata per 14 giri prima di essere superato da Furlotti, altro suo compagno nel Team SM Action Yamaha. Nella prova finale non è partito benissimo e da ottavo ha chiuso sesto. Resta sempre al comando nella classifica generale, ma il suo vantaggio su Furlotti è di soli 208 punti. Sarà certamente decisiva la gara finale di Città di Castello in programma fra 15 giorni.

Rientra alle gare anche Alvin Ostlund, fermo dalla prova della Lettonia. Per lo svedese si è trattato di fare allenamento in vista della prova Mondiale di Assen di domenica prossima. Il suo obiettivo è stato quello di fare “passo gara” e di migliorare la sua condizione fisica. Buona comunque la sua gara terminata con la decima posizione di giornata.

L’attività del Team SM Action Yamaha non si ferma. Dopo un trittico Mondiale con Svizzera – Bulgaria e Turchia, tutto lo staff è pronto per la penultima prova del Mondiale MX2 in programma ad Assen domenica prossima.

At Malpensa Furlotti wins in MX2, Mantovani Third. Good results for all the others too.

The second to last round of the MX2 Italian Prestige Championship went really well. The race was ran excellently by all Team SM Action Yamaha riders who stood out of the crowd through the weekend. The surprises of the day were with no doubts Michael Mantovani and Alessandro Manucci.

The reasons? Michael led Race 1 for 12 laps before giving up the position to Samuele Bernardini and he finished 6^th in Race 2, conquering the third place on the MX2 podium. Alessandro, who came back to racing after almost five months because of his shoulder’s injury that he suffered at Ponte a Egola, has been in the Top Ten for the whole Race 1 and he moved up from 30^th to 15^th in Race 2.

What is not a surprise is Simone Furlotti’s performance, who was aggressive through the weekend as he has never been before. Since Timed Practice we understood that he felt confident with the track. He made the fastest lap and he went to the gate first. In Race 1 he finished 3^rd after that he was 11^th, while in Race 2 he was 4^th after the first lap and then he moved up and overtook Michele Cervellin when there were two laps to go, going to win the race. Very good performance in the Supercampione race too, in which he finished 2^ndbehind Lupino in the overall and 1^st in MX2. It was nice to see Simone with all this willing to competition. We have never seen him like this through the year and we liked him a lot.

Michele Cervellin, as it often happens, was monopolizing the races but he made a few mistakes and at the end of the day he collected less than what he could. In Race 1 he made an evaluation mistake on a jump and he hit two advertising signs, so he lost the lead of the race in favor of his teammate Mantovani. In Race 2 he led for 14 laps before being overtaken by Furlotti, another teammate in Team SM Action Yamaha. In the Supercampione he didn’t start well and from 8^th that he was, he moved up to the 6^th place. He is still leading the General Classification but his gap from Furlotti is now only 208 points. The final race at Città di Castello, which is scheduled in 15 days, will be certainly crucial.

Alvin Ostlund was back to the race too, as he stopped since Latvia’s weekend. The Swedish did only some training, looking forward to Assen, where on next Sunday the World Championship will take place. His target was to recover some race pace and to improve his physical condition. His race was good anyway, as he finished 10^th in the Overall daily classification.

Team SM Action Yamaha activity will not stop. After three races in a row (Switzerland, Bulgaria and Turkey) all the staff is ready for the second to last round of MX2 World Championship which is scheduled for next Sunday at Assen.
